Stockton Creek Preserve Trail

Just minutes from downtown Mariposa lies the Stockton Creek Preserve Trail—an invigorating hike through the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.

 

This challenging route takes you along the ridgeline that separates Mariposa from the Stockton Creek Watershed, ranging from 2,508 feet down to 1,963 feet in elevation. Along the way, you’ll encounter a scenic lake, a waterfall, and Stockton Creek itself, perfect for both hiking and mountain biking. Keep an eye out for local wildlife such as deer, squirrels, birds, and even rattlesnakes.

Access is available any time via foot or mountain bike from Trabucco Street near the football field, beyond the water treatment plant. Plan your trek during daylight hours, and come prepared for a robust outdoor experience.

Badger Pass Ski Area

Looking for a winter getaway in Yosemite? Badger Pass Ski Area offers a relaxed, crowd-free experience, complete with gear rentals and lessons for beginners. Enjoy a variety of activities—from skiing and snowboarding to snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and even snow tubing. Open from mid-December through late March (weather permitting), lift hours typically run 9am to 4pm. Day passes start at $64 for adults and $38.50 for ages 7–12. Zephyr Whitewater Expeditions

As the largest outfitter on the Merced River, Zephyr Whitewater Expeditions offers everything from half-day excursions to overnight trips complete with meals and riverside camping.
